Rolex Middle Sea Race - The Rolex Middle Sea Race is one of sailing's great offshore challenges. The final event of the Mediterranean sailing season, this 600-plus nautical mile challenge commences and concludes in Malta's historic capital Valetta. The circular, anti-clockwise course around Sicily takes in the Italian islands of Sicily, Stromboli, Pantelleria and Lampedusa. An international fleet, 100 yachts strong, is comprised of skilled professional crews and passionate amateurs, many of them Maltese. It is these entries that give the race its unique Corinthian spirit. Tactically demanding and with fast-changing weather conditions which require supreme skill, endurance, and patience, it is one of sailing's ultimate tests.
